frequently asked questions

  • What are your session rates, and do you accept insurance?
I charge $120/session. Currently, I can take Medicare parts A and B, and I am trying to get credentialed with other insurance carriers. I am able to see out of network, and provide a superbill, so that clients can submit it to their insurance for reimbursement. I also offer a reasonable sliding scale for those who cannot afford my session rate, or do not have insurance. I have one pro-bono spot per quarter, for those with great financial need, who apply and agree to my terms and conditions. A pro-bono award is equal to 4 free sessions, and the recipient is chosen based on need, willingness to work towards achieving goals, and ability/desire to attend all scheduled sessions. Forms of payment: cards, venmo, checks, cash.
  • Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes. I ask all clients to kindly give me 24 hours or more notice before canceling or rescheduling. This can be done over text, call, or email. A late cancellation or no-show results in a $100 fee. I give one “free pass to each client on their first late cancellation. After that, I do charge the fee, because it is a session spot that someone who may have needed it did not get. Also, I value your time, and I kindly ask the same in return.
  • Is everything private in therapy? Can I say anything I want?
Everything you say in therapy with me is confidential, but there are limits to confidentiality, as governed by my licensing laws. Those limits include: If you express a desire to harm yourself, or others; if you discuss knowledge of current abuse to elderly, children, or dependent adults; and if I receive a subpoena for your records. I am happy to discuss these limits in session, or answer any questions you might have.
  • I read you had a stroke. Are you disabled?
I am happy to answer questions about my residual deficits, but I won’t take up your session time talking about myself. I have a paralyzed left arm, and a mild limp. This should in no way impact the quality of our work together!
  • I have a service animal. Can I bring it to therapy?
Yes! Please do. Just be aware that our waiting room might have another client with a ESA. A leash is appreciated, as well as up to date vaccines.
  • Are you affiliated with Anew Day counseling services?
I rent my office out of Anew Day’s building. I did my internship there, have many colleagues and friends there, and share similar missions in ministry to others. I’m able to recommend any groups that Anew Day offers, if it fits your needs.
